摘要
虽然哈姆雷特的形象在欧美学界有很大争议，在中国，他在许多人心目中却是一个符合完美理想的英雄，一个文艺复兴时期“人文主义者”的典型。尽管近年来有人对此表示过质疑，但主流意见仍然没有改变。从正义的角度，以莎士比亚原剧文本为根据，通过分析哈姆雷特对身边人、尤其对自己母亲的态度，论证他并非许多人所认为的那样完美，并不是一个“人文主义者”的典型。作者认为，揭示哈姆雷特性格中的消极面，并不会影响我们对于《哈姆雷特》这部伟大作品的欣赏，相反，它还会帮助我们更好地理解和欣赏莎士比亚所塑造的艺术形象的复杂性和丰富性。
While Hamlet as a theatric character has been an object of dispute with overseas scholars, in China he has long been regarded as a perfect hero, a ＂typical Renaissance humanist＂. Although questioning voice has been heard in recent years, the prevailing opinion still endorses this traditional judgment. Resorting to the ideal of justice and basing his argu- ment on the Shakespearean text, the writer calls attention to a negative aspect of him and falsifies his epithet of ＂typical humanist＂ through analyzing his treatment of those close to him, particularly his own mother. The writer believes that calling attention to Hamlet＇ s negative side would not hinder readers from appreciating Shakespeare＇ s works ; rather, it will contribute to a better understanding and appreciation of the complexity and diversity of the artistic images Shakespeare created forus.
