This text examines the architecture and ideas of Wang Shu through the lens of architectural temporality. His work is shown to clarify and celebrate the ways that architecture exists in time and history, the ways it changes as we move through it, as we think about it, build, and design it. More specifically, his projects and writings are used to show how spatial order is structured in sequences, accelerations, and delays; also how design invention unfolds through multiple iterations, and the ways that built works endure by means of change. This paper explains that creativity in architecture depends on movement, which is also the way its order and beauty are experienced.
