逻辑思维的神经机制与创造性翻译——以英汉翻译中的双关语为例

摘要 对英语双关语的汉译往往会遇到不可译的鸿沟,实践中即使偶有佳译也被认为是译者在灵感思维作用下的妙手偶得,因此难以上升到逻辑思维的层次进行深入有效的讨论。本文认为灵感思维和逻辑思维之间的区别只是在于译者翻译时其大脑网络中的监控机制是处于自发状态还是自觉状态,而人类处理语言的神经机制都是采取激活扩散的基本模式,因此我们可以据此解释逻辑思维的神经机制并将其应用于双关语的翻译,从而揭开创造性翻译的神秘面纱。 The translation of puns from English into Chinese often leads to untranslatability, and even the rare successful render- ings in practice are merely regarded as the products of inspiration and chance, which leaves no room for fruitful discussion. But in this paper, the author holds quite an opposite opinion and believes the aspiration differs from logical thinking in that they depict different states of the mental monitoring mechanism: the former being the subconscious monitoring while the latter the conscious monitoring. Starting from this point and in light of the spreading activation model of the brain's neuro-networking, the paper ad- vocates the application of this monitoring mechanism to the E-C translation of puns, with the hope of accounting for the creativity involved in this translating process.
