The paper analyzes systematically the art traits of Literators' painting from the perspective of Six Rule Theory. Literators' painting enjoys great reputation for the combinations of aesthetic thought of expressing emotion and writing mood and of ethereal style of black strokes and white space in pale and delicate shades, as contrasted with those of portraiture and paintings of mountains, rivers, flowers and birds. It therefore, since the Song dynasty, has constituted the mainstream of Chinese painting and replaced green-color landscape paintings, which had long been prominence in Tang and Song dynasties. Affected by the philosophy idea of China, Literators' painting accepts and follows fundamental concept of Six Rule Theory (put forward by Xie He), meanwhile, it is intended to deepen and develop the experience of ideas and the intension of the Theory, which renders Chinese paintings to be indispensable shine in Oriental Art.
