土木之變明軍兵力有五十萬和二十萬兩說,傷亡人數則有死傷數十萬、死者數十萬,以及死傷十萬、死者三萬人等多種說法。本文考定:英宗親征出兵二十五萬,土木之變明兵力二十萬,死傷十萬,其中死者三萬。
There are two viewpoints about the military strength of Ming Dynasty in Tumu Crisis.Some hold the number of soldiers reached 500,000 while the others argue it was just 200,000.As for the casualties,there are more opinions,for instance,the total number and the number of the death were both several hundred thousand,or the total number was 100,000 including dead 30,000,etc.Through textual researches,the article draws a conclusion that there were 250,000 soldiers going out for the war with Emperor Yingzong and 200,000 involved in Tumu Crisis;the total number of the casualties was 100,000 including dead 30,000.
