指类句是一个忽视偶发的情节或者是特定的事实,而表示一般性质及规律的命题,在语言结构和语言运用上有自己独特的特点。它一方面表示普适性的规律及一般性质,另一方面又容忍反例,是人们初步认识世界重要的语言手段及用来强化概念、加强表达效果、进行修辞的重要而常见的语言方式。作为日常生活中普遍的语言现象,指类句应该引起语言学者们的重视。
The generic sentence is a proposition which denotes general characteristics or regularity about a class but ignores episodic plots or particular facts.It has its own features both on syntactic structures and pragmatic uses.The generic sentence,on the one hand,indicates the lawlikeness and,on the other hand,tolerates counterexamples.It is a very important means for human beings to gain preliminary knowledge about the world and also a necessary means for speakers to reinforce a certain pragmatic outcome.As a very common language phenomenon in everyday life,the generic sentence should catch linguists' attention.
