Objective To investigate the serum vascular endothelial growth factor(VEGF) and platelet derived growth factor (PDGF) in the patients of simple fracture and fracture complicated with traumatic brain injury(TBI). To explore the accelerated factors of fracture healing in the fracture complicated with TBI. Methods Venous blood samples of 20 patients of simple fracture and 20 patients of fracture complicated with TBI were collected in the third day and the the tenth day after fracture. Enzyme linked immunosorbent assay(ELISA)was used to detect the serum level of VEGF and PDGF. Results On the third day the serum concentration of VEGF in simple fracture and fracture complicated with TBI were(77.96±20.05) pg/mL and(134.79±20.39) pg/mL. There was significant difference between the two groups, (P〈0.05). On the third day the serum concentration of PDGF in simple fracture and fracture complicated with TBI were (193. 374-51.56) pg/mL and (248.01±94. 14) μg/mL. There were significant difference in the two. Conclusion The rising of serum concentration of VEGF and PDGF after TBI is one of the factors to accelerate fracture healing. VEGF and PDGF are synergies in the process of fracture healing.
