摘要
1 引言万维网(World Wide Web)已经成为信息传播、交流与共享的主要媒体。在全球Web站点数目迅速增长的同时,各个Web站点的信息量及其复杂度也在迅速上升,包含成千上万个网页与超链接是很平常的。由于以下的因素,数据密集型Web站点的设计与管理也变得越来越困难:
The creation of a complex Web site are a thorny problem in user interface design. First,different visitors have distinct goals. Second,even a single visitor may have different needs at different times. Much of the information at the site may also be dynamic or time-dependent. Third,as the site grows and evolves ,its original design may no longer be appropriate. Finally,a site may be designed for a particular purpose but used in unexpected ways. Web servers record data about user interactions and accumulates this data over time. We believe that data mining techniques can be used to examine user access logs,in order to improve the site automatically. There are a great deal of challenges and opportunities when creating self-adaptive Web sites:sites that automatically improve their organization and presentation based on user access patterns. Success would have a broad and highly visible impact on the World Wide Web and the data mining community.
