"处女"一词的释义,诸辞书及相关文献均仅采其引申义和比喻义,而对其本义则未予说释。考之字书与文献,"处女"的本义当为"善淑的女子"。
Many dictionaries and related literatures only use its secondary meaning and the figurative meaning for the word virgin. But there is no interpretation for its original meaning. By examining word books and related litera- tures, the original meaning of the virgin is the virtuous girl, namely the kindhearted and good girl.
