American Postmodernist Literature was first introduced to China as a literary school at the end of the 1970s,but failed to attract critical attention before it became an important focus of literary studies in the 1990s.This paper is intended to investigate China's critical responses to American postmodernist Literature in the past thirty years, discuss the major characteristics and main achievements of each decade and make an overall analysis on the problems and issues that have emerged in China's reception of literary postmodernism.
