摘要
儿童是民族的希望、国家的未来。民国时期,不少有识之士认识到要先有健全之儿童,而后才有健全之国民、健全之国家。救亡图存,需从培养健全的儿童入手。传统社会遗留下的儿童教育偏重德育、智育,无法应对国家、民族危机的挑战。而热心从事儿童事业的宗教团体,天津中华基督教青年会坚持以"德育、智育、体育、群育"塑造健全儿童并作出了许多努力。对此,创刊于20世纪初的《大公报》有着较为详细的报道和评论。天津中华基督教青年会致力于为儿童谋幸福的实践,一方面直接促进了儿童的健康成长,另一方面也唤起了更多人对儿童事业的关注。该会举办的儿童事业不仅在当时取得了不俗的成绩,而且其塑造健全儿童的理念与实践对后世也有一定的借鉴意义。
Children are the hope and future of the nation.During the Republic of China period,many insightful people recognized that only by having physically and mentally healthy children,we could have ideal citizens and nation.In order to save the nation,we need to start training ideal children.The traditional education system in China had an emphasis on moral and intellectual aspects.However it was unable to cope with the challenges and crisis at times.As a zealous religious group which was committed to the education for children,Tianjin YMCA adhered to the goals of improving morality,intellectuality,health and social skills to train ideal children.Founded in the early 20th century,'Ta Kung Pao' had a more detailed report and comment on Tianjin YMCA.On the one hand,Tianjin YMCA directly contributed to the healthy growth of children;on the other hand it had aroused the concern for children.Its concept and practice of education for children also had some reference for future generations.
