摘要
弗吉尼亚·伍尔夫在其代表作《达洛卫夫人》中巧妙利用空间形式以一天写一个女人的一生并生动地展示了整个伦敦社会的面貌。一是作者大胆地抛弃了传统的因果性和年代形式的小说结构模式,打乱故事开端、发展、高潮、结局的线性时间流程,以公园、伦敦的街道等物理空间为载体,采用重复、并置、蒙太奇等共识性的叙述方式,通过多重场景的来回切换,营建了叙事中的社会文化空间;二是在叙述语言技巧上,以扭曲的时序与意象为读者主观知觉的构造提供空间,通过精细的描写来延缓甚至中断情节的推进,以破坏故事历时性的顺序发展,从而达到一种时间停顿和共时性的陌生化效果。
In the master work Mrs Dalloway , Virginia Woolf uses spatial forms to narrate a woman's whole life and London's social visage in a lady's one day activities. On one hand the writer deserts tradition- al causal model and chronological structure, linear narration of start, development, climax and ending. She uses narrative strategies such as repetition, juxtaposition, montage and the switch between different scenes to build a social--cultural space in London' park and street. On the other hand in the language strat- egies, the writer distorts the time sequence and images to get more space for the readers' subjective creation and adopts detailed description to suspend the plot, to destroy the story's diachronic development and to reach the effect of defamiliarization.
