美国阿富汗裔作家卡勒德.胡赛尼的小说《灿烂千阳》(2007)以阿富汗战乱为背景,呈现了阿富汗妇女在暴力、战争和贫困中的失落、绝望及其所怀抱的梦想与希望,反映了作者对阿富汗社会现实的关注和生存境遇的思考。两个命运起点不同的阿富汗女性遭受同一个男人施加的家庭暴力,饱受精神和肉体的双重摧残。在家庭暴力的背后,还有战乱、贫困、无尽的炮火对妇女群体的摧残和迫害。阿富汗女性及普通家庭所经历的苦难,见证了国家在持续战乱中所遭受的蹂躏。尽管生命充满苦痛与辛酸,但每一段悲痛的情节中都能让人见到希望的阳光。该小说洋溢着积极向上的乐观情绪,表达了作者对阿富汗女性及社会现状的深切关怀。
A Thousand Splendid Suns by Khaled Hosseini portrays the despair,pain,and hope of Afghan women in plight.Born in different circumstances,the two heroines suffer the same problems of domestic violence,war and poverty.Afghan women' s tragic life witnesses what the country suffers from the everlasting war.Meanwhile,the novel offers hope,redemption,and love to offset the anguish in the world of cruelty and despair.Celebrating the women's endurance and survival in the face of unspeakable tragedy,the novel reflects Hosseini's deep concern for Afghan women and optimistic promise for Afghanistan.
