奈保尔在中国的译介、研究和接受呈现出鲜明的特征。在翻译领域,奈保尔作品译介的选择性受到了作家宗教观念和历史政治观念的影响。在研究领域,国内学界回避了对奈保尔政治立场的探索,而专注于研究奈保尔的文化认同和文化身份,同时又将奈保尔置入中国语境,进行比较研究。在对奈保尔的接受上,国内作家和普通读者倾向于将奈保尔塑造成文学大师和风流才子,而学界则更青睐奈保尔的文化流散者身份。
There are some special characteristics in the translation, research and reception of V. S. Naipaul in China. The selective translation of Naipaul＇s works to some extent is made by the writer＇s religious ideas and the historical and political thinking. In the field of research, the domestic scholars avoid the exploration on Naipaul＇s political position, and are keen to study Naipaul＇s cultural identity. Meanwhile, they＇d like to place Naipaul into the Chinese context and make the comparative study. In the reading process, Chinese writ- ers and readers like the image of Naipaul as a master of words and libertine, while the aca- demics prefer to Naipaul＇s cultural diasporic identity.
