The authors introduce the general situation of the braking system of North American heavy haul railway ears and China railway freight cars, The paper mainly analyzes the major problems that should be solved in the fields of braking distance and the braking system of heavy haul railway cars, and discusses the direction of the study on heavy haul railway ear braking system.
