摘要
巴赫金的"狂欢化"理论为比较研究《高兴》与《嘉莉妹妹》提供了新的批评视角。运用巴赫金的"狂欢化"理论为研究依据,结合两部作品的时代背景,从狂欢广场以及广场语言等方面分别分析了《高兴》与《嘉莉妹妹》中城市的象征意义及其双重性,进而揭示了两部作品中相似的狂欢化特征。
In the light of Bakhtin＇s theory of carnivalesque, attempts are made to interpret compara- tively Happiness and Sister Carrie. The symbolism of cities and their dual nature in two novels are studied under the consideration of their backgrounds from the perspective of carnival square and carni- val square language. In the meantime, the similar carnivalized features of these two novels are also exposed.
