摘要
中国近代早期留学,以沪局和船政学堂为中心,对二者留学前国内教育进行比较可知,沪局的教育只是为出国而临时设立的短期的、规模较小的、课程设置和学习效果较为简单的、培训式的教育,船政学堂的教育则是和近代海防建设密切联系在一起的、长期的、课程设置复杂、学习效果突出、专业性与实践性相结合的教育。这在一定程度上影响到两次留学的进程、成效、结局命运以及留学生归国后对中国近代化的贡献。通过比较,我们也能够更加深刻地理解中国近代早期留学教育的探索和艰辛。
The overseas study in early Chinese modern history is centered on the different practices of "The Chinese Educational Mission" and "Fu Zhou Naval School" . By comparison of the two pre-overseas-educations, the conclusion can be drawn that the education at "The Chinese Educational Mission" is more of a temporary training, with a short term, a small scale, a simple curriculum and an easy target; while the education at Fu Zhou Naval School is effective, professional and practical, with a long term, a complex curriculum, and a close relationship with the establishment of Chinese modern naval force. The difference between the two has impact at a certain degree on routes, outcomes, fates, and contributions the students made to the modernization of China after they returned to homeland. Moreover, we learned more profoundly the diffi culties that the exploration of overseas education in Early Chinese modern history faced at that time
