摘要
蔡元培一生砥砺德行。1912年2月,他在上海加入以改良社会风气为目的的进德会,其进德活动正式展开。1918年1月,蔡元培在北京大学发起成立以改良校园风气为宗旨的进德会,并秉承了上海进德会"不嫖娼、不赌博、不娶妾"的中心思想。进德会发展经历了"力戒嫖娼"与"提倡素食"两个阶段。蔡元培的进德会活动,在一定程度上改善了北大的校园风气。在五四运动中,以进德会会员为代表的学生领袖发挥了中流砥柱作用。
Cai Yuanpei pays attention to virtue in life. In February, 1912, he joined the society for the purpose to improve the moral in Shanghai, marked the official launch of moral activities. In 1918 January, Cai Yuanpei again in the Peking University initiated to im- prove the campus culture for the purpose of morali mprovement, activities. The moral improvement of the development of experienced to＂ abstain from sex＂ and＂ advocate of not eating meat＂ in two stages. Cai Yuanpei by initiating the moral improvement, was improved to some extent north campus atmosphereThe impact is mainly reflected in the five four patriotic movement, the moral improvement asso- ciation as a representative of the university students in the demonstration plays a mainstay role. In addition, the Chinese and foreign media on Cai Yuanpei also launched mural, campaign to give a high evaluation. Study of Cai Yuanpei＇s moral improvement activities, for the further understanding of Cai Yuanpei~ moral character and progressive thought, is very useful.
