摘要
王肖珠女士先后毕业于福州华南女子大学和燕京大学教育系,在岭南大学图书馆工作长达15年,1945-1948年间担任图书馆馆长,是该馆历史上首位女性华人图书馆馆长。担任馆长期间,王肖珠主持岭南大学图书馆战后藏书的清点与追回工作,竭尽全力将图书馆因战争而产生的损失降至最低。1948年,王肖珠赴美国伊利诺伊大学图书馆学院攻读硕士学位,此后一直服务于美国图书馆界。论文从岭南大学档案入手,探究王肖珠在该校图书馆工作时期的史实及其为图书馆做出的贡献。
Phyllis Chiu-Chu Wang graduated firstly from the Department of Education of Woman＇s Col- lege of South China and then from Yenching University. She then had been working for Lingnan University Library for fifteen years. In 1945, she was appointed the Head Librarian and became the first female Chi- nese Head Librarian in the history of Lingnan University. From 1945 to 1948, Wang was in charge of Stocktaking and recovering collections. She made great efforts to minimize the loss caused by the Second World War. In 1948, Wang entered School of Library Science of University of Illinois, U. S. A pursuing for her Master＇s degree, and after that she had been serving in American library circle. This paper resear- ches Miss Wang＇s experience in Lingnan University Library and her contributions in honoring her long and dedicated service to the University and the profession she devoted to.
