Three pieces of time records in the inscription of Viscount 's Ding-tripod from tomb M2 at the Yejiashan site of Suizhou have very close relationship with the time records in the inscriptions of Bao's You(Wine Vessel) and Jin's Ding-tripod,reflects that all the three owners of the bronzes had taken part in a covenant held by King Cheng of Zhou in the king's capital.According to the inscriptions,a large number of vassal states had joined the covenant, including the states of same and different surnames, even common surnames. The covenant was held in the ancestral temple of the king, and the purpose of it was to confirm the political grades of each state. The inscription of Viscount 's Ding-tripod and related significant discoveries in Suizhou area prove the distinguished status of the states located from Nanyang to Eastern Hubei in the southern area of Zhou, and also offers latest materials for pondering the ruling mode in Western Zhou dynasty.
