摘要
委婉语是人类语言发展过程中的一种普遍现象,它涉及到人们日常生活的方方面面。不同的社会背景和历史文化会产生不同的委婉语,委婉语的使用是人们达到理想交际效果的一种重要手段。本文主要论述了英语委婉语的语用功能、表达方式和语义特征三个方面的内容。
Euphemism,an important way of ideal intercommunication,is a common phenomenon in the process of the development of human language.For it relates to every aspect of human life,various euphemisms have come into being in different social,historic and cultural backgrounds.In this article,three contents of English euphemism-its pragmatic functions,ways of expression and semantic characteristics-are discussed.
