摘要
20世纪二三十年代,英国陆续向中国政府退还从中国掠夺来的庚款余额。虽然英国民间很早就有向中国退还庚款余额的呼声,但是英国政府退还庚款余额的决定和退还行动却一波三折。这一期间英国所处的国际环境如美国退还庚款的影响、日本退还庚款的压力和中国人民在退还庚款问题上的反抗斗争都对英国施加了巨大的压力,同时英国战后社会思潮和经济形势的变化也对政府的退还行动有影响,并影响着退还庚款的管理和使用权问题。
In early 20th century, the British government began to remit the Boxer Indemnity to Chinese government. Although some British people appealed to remitting early on, the British government decided to remit very late and the process of remission was full of twists and turns. At that time, many factors such as the American and Japan＇s remission and the Chinese people＇s struggle against their refusing the remission as well as the changes of British trend of social thought and the economic situation not only forced the British government to remit, but also influenced the management and the right to use the Boxer Indemnity.
