Thailand's national parliamentary election was held ahead of regular schedule in July 2011. A 53% majority was favored to the Pro-Thaksin Pheu Thai Party that enables its establishment of a coalition government with small parties. Yingluck Shinawatra, Thaksin's young sister, became the 28th Prime Minister of Thailand as well as the first female PM in the history of the country. However, the economic increase during 2011 was lower than expected and the administration of the new government was challenged, due to Thailand' s worst floods. In terms of foreign relations, the territorial disputes with Cambodia became an important foreign affair, while it showed a tendency of less tension between the two countries after Yingluck coming into power.
