摘要
虽然在西方美学中,自然物质并不是美学家关注的主要对象,自然物质美学在西方美学中仍然有着断层般的渗透。对西方美学史中关于水的意象作简略的探索式考证,认为从泰勒斯将水视为世界的始基开始,到新柏拉图主义将水作为美学媒介,再到浪漫主义如水的有机美学,最后到巴士拉和福柯反理性的水,西方美学中的水意象主要有"始基说—实用说—抒发说—反理性说"4种,并大致呈时间先后顺序。
Although natural matter has seldom been the focus of Western Aesthetics,scattered views relating to nature can be located.This paper conducts a brief exploration on the image of water in Western Aesthetics and groups them into four approaches.Firstly,Thales views water as the origin of the world;Secondly,Neo-Platonists regards water as a medium in aesthetics;Thirdly,Romantics use water as a metaphor to describe the flow of inspiration or the reflection of mind in their organic aesthetics;Lastly,Bachelard and Foucault consider water as a symbol of irrationality.The four views "origin—pragmatic—expressive—antirational" has a diachronic order.
