Substituted phenylethyl 4 (4 nitrophenyloxy) piperidines(Ⅲ 1,2 ) were prepared by reaction 1 substituted 4 hydroxypiperidine with sodium hydride and 1 fluoro 4 nitrobenzene in anhydrous DMF. Two impurities: bis ( p nitrophenyl) ether(Ⅴ) and N,N dimethyl p nitroaniline(Ⅵ) were isolated, and the causes of producing Ⅴ and Ⅵ were discussed. The yield of Ⅲ was raised and the impurities were eliminated by using anhydrous tetrahydrofuran as solvent instead of DMF.
