摘要
"大学是传授普遍知识的场所",这是纽曼大学思想的逻辑起点。本文以阐述这一逻辑起点为始,从自由教育的目的、过程以及与专业教育的关系等方面具体阐述了纽曼自由教育的思想。尽管纽曼的自由教育思想带有时代性和局限性,但仍值得我们现代大学学习与思考。
The teaching function of universities is advocated by Newman's ideas of liberal education. " Universities are the Areas of Imparting General Knowledge" is the logical beginning of Newman's university i- deas. Started with stating the logical beginning, the paper specifically discusses Newman~ ideas of liberal edu- cation from the aim, process of liberal education, and its relation with professional education, etc. Although there is epochal character and limitation in Newman~ ideas of liberal education, it is still worthy of and thinking of our modem universities. learning
