Yunnan and Japan share many key elements of primitive culture and themes of mythology. The ethnic minorities of Yunnan still enjoy reciting their epics of mythology which have a long history, and some are similar to the Japanese JIJI Myths (two most influential myths). The epics of mythology of Yunnan ethnic minorities and JIJI Myths are quite similar in content and share some characteristics of popular folk mythology. This article tries to reveal the form and original features of Japanese primitive mythology before the emergence of JIJI Myths through a comparative study from the viewpoints of mythology, primitive literature and cultural ecology.
