摘要
艺术与生命的永恒存在佑护着叶芝的艺术创作历程,正是凭借这样的"佑护",诗人的艺术创作之旅才既展现为现实的经验之旅,又展现为"超验"的启示之旅和永恒的关怀之旅。在诗人的眼里,现实经验的存在乃永恒世界的"象征","拜占庭"正好承载了这样的"象征"而成为永恒精神与艺术存在的现实代表。"拜占庭"既是现实之在,又是历史之在,更是宗教与艺术的不朽之在。它呈现给诗人的不仅是物质世界的图景,而且是永恒艺术与宗教主题的图景。所以,面对"拜占庭"及其艺术辉煌的历史,诗人及其艺术创作的"真实"就在于它要凭借现实的象征,将有限生命的超越、艺术永恒的追寻和宗教关怀的召唤之旅展示在读者的面前。
The eternity of spirit and art, as the ultimate goal of his pursuit, guarantees the success of Yeats' artistic creation. Byzantium, as the holy place of the eastern and western cultures, symbolizesthe eternity of art and spirit. It conveys the historical content as well as the realistic one and enables the poet to be linked to both the material and spiritual existence. Moreover, it represents the perfection ofartistic creation and the way to be eternal. The journey to Byzantium brings the divine revelation to the poet and makes him transcend the limitedness of life.
