摘要

Life,written in 2000 by the modern Japanese woman writer Umili,is an attractive and popular novel.With the technique of personal novel,Umili points out that love and marriage are not the whole of women＇s life,women are easy to get involved in love dilemma.In the heartbreaking melancholy,Umili writes value,meaning of life and her self-cognition and describes her arduous years from pregnancy to being unmarried mother.She was helpless while facing Higashi,her former lover and benefactor whose life came to an end.Life depicts Umili＇s subjective desire to seek the meaning of life by characters and she will balk at nothing,even if being in emptiness and confusion.It lends an implicit charm to the writing style of Umili.
