摘要
《红字》是一部内容丰富、寓意深刻的小说。女主人公海丝特.白兰在清教主义统治社会的长期压迫下,逐渐地成长为一位思想独立的女性。从女性主义文学批评的角度出发,分析了海丝特身上所体现的女性意识以及其女性意识的逐渐觉醒与成长的过程,从而更深刻地认识霍桑笔下的这一生动与丰富的人物形象。
Scarlet Letter is a novel abundant in content and deep in morals.Its female protagonist Hester Prynne grows to be an independent woman at last under the oppression of the Puritan society.From the perspective of literature criticism of the feminism,this article tries to analyze the feminine consciousness in Hester Prynne and the process of its awakening and growth in her,thus to further discover this vivid and enriched figure characterized by Hawthorne.
