China＇s focus on peaceful development in its international strategies in the coming decade has been elaborated upon in a recently releasedWhite Paper. Its goals and tasks can be succinctly summarized as： re-establishing China＇s global position by planning a roadmap that meets challenges through making the best of favorable conditions, avoiding unfavorable ones, and tackling difficult problems with creativity and innovation.
The nature of China's peaceful development requires that its diplomatic strategy reflect both the spirit of the times and its own fundamental characteristics. China should assess its relations with the outside world with fresh ideas, creative thinking and be prepared for flexible maneuvering in handling practical issues.
