摘要
唐继尧作为中国和云南近代史上褒贬不一的风云人物,一生从政从军的同时,还躬行军事教育和文化教育,为云南的近代教育作出了不可磨灭的贡献。唐继尧对云南近代教育的贡献主要是其政治理想——成为"东大陆主人"的产物,透过他在云南近代教育史上的这些作为,可见其作为革命家、政治家、军事家或者旧军阀儒雅知文的另一面。他在教育认识和实践过程中所体现出来的爱国救民的情怀、开阔的现代视野、远大的抱负和知行合一、勇于实践、敢为天下先的开拓精神是云南近代民族文化的精华,虽以军事立身,却能以文治省,神威奋勇、文武兼备、功勋卓著应该是唐继尧较为客观的历史形象。
As an influential person in modern Yunna and China, who is either praised or criticized, Tang Jiyao devoted himself in Yunnan＇s military and cultural education while he acted as a military man, making remarkable contribution to the development of education in modern Yunnan. The contribution he has made can be considered as the result of his political ambition： to be the master of the East Asia. All his contributions and achievement in the development of education in modern Yunnan show the other side of Tang Jiyao as being intellectual although he was mainly considered as a revolutionary, politician or military lord. His devoted patriotism, wide scope, great ambition and pioneering spirit all have become an important part of Yunnan＇s cultural heritage. We can say that although established in military, Tang was also an intellectual who has made remarkable achievement.
