摘要
在教育研究方法从单一的定性分析走向定性分析与定量分析相结合的今天,如何运用定量分析的方法为外语教学提供帮助是当代外语教育工作者必须掌握的一大方法。运用量的研究方法,借助SPSS统计分析软件,对广州大学外语学院随机抽取的某班级学生5门主干课程的学业成绩分别进行描述性统计、质量分析、相关分析和回归分析,旨在进一步了解定量分析在英语教学中的运用方法及作用,并根据直观的数据结果提出相关的教学意见和建议。
Amid a transition of method applied in educational research from qualitative research to a combination of both qualitative and quantitative methods, quantitative method is becoming increasingly helpful for foreign language teachers in their effort to improve their teaching.With the aid of SPSS program, this paper conducts descriptive analysis, quality analysis, correlation analysis and regres- sion analysis on the academic performance of a class of students randomly chosen from the School of Foreign Studies, Guangzhou Uni- versity in five main courses, so as to obtain a further understanding of the application and function of quantitative research in English teaching. Furthermore, some suggestions for the teaching of English based on the direct data obtained by these analyses are put forth.
