摘要
一般认为,符合论与融贯论是相互竞争、无法共存的理论。对这种通常的理解,本文试图从真理定义与真理标准的区分出发来进行质疑。本文要论证,在定义与标准的区分下,符合论提供定义,而融贯论提供标准。为此,本文将讨论对符合论之核心概念"事实"的各种批评,以及融贯论者使融贯论成为真理定义的各种努力。文章最后要展现一种新的理解两者之关系的可能性。
It is commonly believed that the correspondence theory of truth and the coherence theory are in competition, one cannot co-exist with the other. In this paper, I want to rebut this opinion by drawing a distinction between the definition of truth and the criterion of it. I will prove that, under such a distinction, the correspondence theory defines the concept of truth while the coherence theory provides a test of i t . To do this, I will discuss several criticisms of the central concept of correspondence, i. e. , fact. I will also discuss some kinds of efforts to establish that the coherence theory is a definition of truth. I conclude this paper by showing a new possibility to look upon the relation between the correspondence theory and the coherence theory.
