城市往往被认为是与自然界分离的,但生态批评中新近的趋势是要求我们把城市作为整体环境的一部分。这篇访谈录创新地提出城市生态的社会诉求、社会责任和社会道义,提醒城市和乡村居住者在生态系统中的位置和责任,并强调理解城市生活和文化中城市与自然关系的重要性。安德鲁·罗斯和迈克尔·班尼特探讨了城市生态批评的多个方面,就城市自然主义写作、城市公园、城市"荒野"、生态女性主义和城市以及城市空间等一系列主题进行了深入的对话。用环境保护主义的视角来重新审视自然及其文化再现,有助于更好地理解当代的城市景观及其意义与价值。以往对城市的文化分析往往缺少生态的成分,本文通过弥合环境保护论、文化研究和城市经验之间的历史鸿沟,对城市生态的社会诉求进行了较全面的探讨。
While cities are often believed to be separable from the nature, the ecocriticism tends to consider cities as a part of integer environment. This interview advanced creatively the social appeals, responsibilities and moralities for city ecology, reminded urban and rural residents of their positions and responsibilities, and emphasized the importance of understanding the relation between cities and nature in urban lives and cultures. Additionally, the authors discussed the city ecocriticism from multiple aspects, and made a deep dialogue over writing of urban naturalism, urban parks, urban wilderness, ecofeminism and cities as well as urban space, etc. Reexamining the reoccurrence of nature and culture from the perspective of environmentalism would help to better understand the contemporary urban landscapes, their significances and values. This paper introduced the social appeals on city ecology by closing the gulf among environmentalism,cultural studies and urban experience.
