In The Old Man and the Sea by Hemingway, we can see Santiago who is the one that generalized and highlighted the characters of braveness, confidence, and perseverance. Santiago is optimistic and held a firm and resolute attitude toward life from the beginning to the end, as an undefeated hero. The character portrayed in the novel is successful. Hemingway uses the writing skill of Iceberg to depict the story. The Author tries to convey his dissatisfaction toward the society through the symbolic things.
