家庭学校教育作为基础教育领域的一种新的教育理念和模式,20世纪60年代在美国兴起,20世纪80年代以来得到了蓬勃发展。这种教育理念和模式也渗透到了世界上的很多国家以及我国的台湾、香港地区。约翰·霍尔特是美国家庭学校教育运动的积极倡导者和推动者,对于指导和推动美国家庭学校教育运动的发展起了非常重要的作用。
Home schooling as a new educational concept and mode of elementary education,emerges in USA in 1960s and is well developed by 1980s.The idea spreads to Taiwan,Hong Kong and many other regions.John Holt is an advocator and facilitator of American home schooling,and plays a very important role in promoting the American movement.
