The University Hospital of the China West Normal University organized one-hour training on fire escape for 300 students, 170 male and 200 female, aged 21 - 27, who stayed in the dormitory, having no class in a Thursday afternoon. However, no relevant medical knowledge was taught. Then a fictitious fire was broadcast and the students were asked to evacuate. The response and evacuation manner were observed. The observation showed that they took 13 rain to flee to safe areas, longer than the students of medical colleges and some other non-medical colleges. Most of the students ran with their noses and mouths masked by wet towels, however, only 15 (4.1%) of them proceeded in a correct manner. In order to improve the effect relevant medical knowledge, such as the impact of carbonyl hemoglobin, should be added into the training curriculum for non-medical students.
