The forms of chemisorption of H 2 over Rh V/SiO 2 have been studied by infrared spectroscopy. On 0 7% Rh V/SiO 2, gem dicarbonyl band are observed at 2 092 and 2 029 cm -1 for Co adsorption, while on 3% Rh V/SiO 2 in addition to gem dicarbonyl bands appearing at 2 092 and 2 029 cm -1 , linear CO and bridged CO bands are observed at 2 066 and 1 873 cm -1 , respectively. On 0.7%Rh V/SiO 2 one band for Rh H vibration is observed at 1 865 cm -1 , while two bands appearing at 1 988 and 1 865 cm -1 resectively for Rh H vibration are obtained over 3%Rh V/SiO 2. By comparison with CO adsorption on Rh V/SiO 2 catalysts, the band at 1 865 cm -1 can be designed to adsorbed hydrogen on the isolated Rh sites, and the band at 1 988 cm -1 to adsorption of H 2 on crystalline Rh.
