Fe, Ni and Crcontaining HMS mesoporous molecular sieves were directly synthesized by a liquidcrystal templating method. The Si/Me molar ratio of the assynthesized samples is close to that of the reactant gel mixture. Almost all of the heteroatomcontaining HMS samples retain high BET surface area in the range of 620882 m2/g and pore volume of above 0.60 cm3/g. Fe, Ni and Crcontaining HMS mesoporous molecular sieve catalysts show higher catalytic activity for ethylbezene dehydrogenation than bulk Fe2O3. NiHMS catalysts are more active for thiophene hydrodesulfurization than other molecular sievesupported Ni catalysts. CrHMS and HMSsupported Cr catalysts are highly active for thiophene hydrodesulfurization, and the activity of the latter for the reaction is 2545 times greater than that of NiHMS catalysts.
