By means of SEM and metallographic microscope, the evolution pattern of non-metallic inclusions in high quality pipeline steel during smelting process produced by 2150 ASP in Angang is systematically studied. The results show that the trend of variation in quantity of non-metallic inclusions is the same as that of T[O] in steel, and main inclusions include compound inclusions such as MnO in molten steel at early stage of refining. However, from the end of refining by LF to the start of casting, main inclusions changed into Al2O3-CaO(MgO)together with less CaS.And thus the size of inclusions in a strand is relatively small with the number of 3.1 pieces/mm2 on the average. The cleanliness of pipeline steels produced by 2150 ASP can meet users' requirements.
