Humor is notable in Romain Gary’s novels. In addressing human decency in the face of cruel reality, Gary uses humor as a means of survival that is able to reduce stress, release fear and anxiety, and renew the hope in humanity. This essay tries to argue that for Gary, humor is not only an art form but also an art of living.
