"多余人"是俄罗斯文学上重要的形象类型。这是19世纪俄国贵族青年的典型形象:精力充沛,才华横溢却一无所成;心怀远大抱负却流连于空虚生活。集个人与社会的矛盾,思想与行动的矛盾于一身。优秀青年之所以堕落或被埋没,有一系列时代与社会原因及自身原因。然而,也并非所有性格矛盾的优秀贵族青年最终都成为"多余人"。这既是俄罗斯文学的一种客观存在同时也是为社会生活现实所决定的。
The ＂unwanted person＂ is an important type of image in Russian literarature history. It is the typical image of a Russian young noble in the 19th century： energetic, brilliant but unwanted; ambitious but addicted to empty life. It consists of the contradictions of individual and society, of thought and actions. A string of times and social factors and their own reasons contribute to their degradation or being stifled. However, not all these young brilliant nobles with contradictory-characters wil become ＂unwanted persons＂ in the end. It is an objective fact, and it is determined by social reality.
