摘要
长期以来,许多学者往往把美国的鲁滨逊及其名著《新史学》视为"新史学"的代言人和宣言书,认为他是开一代风气之先的学者。事实上,新旧史学之间并没有一个明确的分水岭,早在专业史学的形成过程中"新史学"即已发出了先声。鲁滨逊及其《新史学》实际上是"新史学"渐入高潮的一个标志而已。
Many scholars have been regarding James Harvey Robinson and his New History as the representative and the major manifesto of 'New History' in America for a long time.The fact is,however,not as so.There is no explicit divide between Old and New History.As early as the third quarter of nineteenth century,there was a prologue of 'New History' that began to germinate and became clearer in the early years of the 20th century.Robinson and his New History is actually one of the signs of 'New History' in developing.
