摘要
为了让人们了解英语委婉语的重要性,通过对英语委婉语的特点及语用功能进行研究,发现英语委婉语的主要特点包括间接性、模糊性、差异性、时代性。其功能主要包括表达禁忌功能、礼貌功能、掩饰功能和美化功能。掌握这些特点及语用功能可以提高人们对其认识及交际能力。
With the purpose of making people be aware of the importance of euphemism in communication,its features,pragmatic functions and explanations are discussed in this paper.It is found that such features as indirection,fuzziness,variation and modernity are the characteristics of euphemism.The main functions of English euphemism include taboo function,polite function,covering-up function and beautifying function.It is hoped that this thesis will help people understand and use euphemism accurately,thus improve their communication.
