The
radiation
method has been succesfully used to prepare ultrafine powders of CuPd alloy from the solution
containing Cu(NH3)2+4 and Pd(NH3)2+4 complex ions. Influences of experimental conditions on
the formation of CuPd alloy are discussed. It is discovered that it is beneficial to the formation
of CuPd alloy when the concentration of Cu(NH3)2+4 is less than 0.009 kmol/m3, the ratio of
Cu(NH3)2+4/Pd(NH3)2+4 is larger than 21 and pH>9. The lower the concentration of the mixed
solution is, the less the required irradiation dose on the formation of CuPd alloy is. The effect of
the concentration of polyvinyl alcohol (PVA, a surfactant) on the particle size of CuPd alloy is not
obvious under our experimental conditions.
