摘要
当阳玉泉山僻在荆山,自立寺以来玉泉高僧大德以自己的崇高品格与皇室交往,讲经说法,受到历代皇室信用,取得皇室的护法支持,得以传佛慧命。历代皇室亦对玉泉山给予建寺、赐额、赐高僧法号谥号、赐葬、赐物、分给土地庄田、减免租税等恩宠,以皇室之尊积极护佑玉泉寺佛教发展。在汉传佛教受世俗政权制约的历史背景下,当阳玉泉寺通过各种有效途径与皇室建构了紧密的关联,基本反映出特定地区的佛教与世俗最高政权的相互依存和援用的渊源关系。
Yuquan Temple of Dangyang is located in Yuquan Mount,secluded from the Jing Mounts.An eminent monk named Dade,with his noble moral characters,had been associated with the royal families by lecturing on religious classics and propagating doctrines since the building of the temple,so that he had been able to spread Buddhism and help people prolong their wisdom of life under the credit and support of the royal family and the royal dharma.The royal families of each dynasty offered their graces to bless the temple and the development of Buddhism with their royal dignity,including approving the building of the temple,conferring horizontal inscribed boards,honoring the eminent monks with religious names or with posthumous titles,granting funerals and burials,giving things,distributing land and farmsteads among them,practicing the tax reduction or exemption and so on.With the historical background where the Han-Chinese Buddhism was under the constraint of the existing secular regimes,Yu Quan Temple of Dangyang,however,managed to establish close links to the royal families through various effective ways,which basically reflects the origins and relations how the Buddhism in specific areas and the secular supreme power relied on each other for existence through back-scratching in the specific times.
