Characteristics of lead polliction in wild plants on both sides of the roads were studied. With the flame atom absorption speetrophotometric method, the content of lead in wild plants on both sides of the main roads of nearby mountainous areas in northern suburb of Zhangjiakou city was determined. It indicated a linear relationship in the range of 0-8 mg/L of lead absorption, with the correlation coefficient r=0. 999 7, linear equation Y=0. 075 8X-0. 001 33, and the picked out limit 0. 024 (μg/ mL). The lead from burning of petrol in cars migrated into soils. The degree of lead pollution decreased gradually with the increases of distances between wild plants and the road. The wild plants in nearby mountainous area have the obvious absorption and clamping action to the lead in soil and they may purify the soil and maintain the harmony of the ecosystem.
