Guangzhou Women＇s Federation and the local civil affairs bureau on September 16 launched a shelter to accommodate women, children and elderly people who are victims of domestic violence. Anyone requiring the shelter＇s services can either apply to the women＇s federation or report the abuse to the police. A victim can stay at the center for 15 days; in serious situations, the victim＇s stay can be extended. The shelter provides clean dormitories, washing facilities, psychological counseling and a computer room.
