摘要
设计了一个基于RAID-5接口的多通道SATA磁盘阵列控制芯片。该芯片提供一个点到点的高速数据传输的接口,包括RAID-5接口控制器、SATA控制器以及ARM接口等,并具有多种传输模式,支持8路独立通道的磁盘阵列。该设计解决了SATA和RAID-5之间的高效协同处理问题,减少了多个磁盘阵列数据存取过程中处理器的参与程度,节约了处理器的资源,同时使RAID-5编解码器仅需使用最少的内存空间来存放中间数据,大大提高了RAID-5的并行处理能力和效率,充分发挥了RAID-5和SATA相结合的优势,其最高突发数据传输速率可达3 Gb/s。采用TSMC 0.13μm工艺流片,芯片数字部分规模约86万门,可应用于各种存储管理系统。
A multi-channel SATA disk array controller IC based on RAID-5 interface was presented,which provided a point-to-point high speed data transfer interface,including RAID-5 interface controller,SATA controller and ARM interface,etc.This circuit has multiple transfer modes and supports 8-channel independent disk drive array.The design solves the coordinating problem between SATA and RAID-5,minimizes the involvement of control processor during data transfer,and allows the RAID Codec to store temporary data with minimal RAM.It greatly improves the parallel processing capability and efficiency of RAID-5.Taking advantages of RAID-5 and SATA,it can reach 3 Gb/s in burst transfer mode.The chip was fabricated in 0.13 μm CMOS process,and the gate counts of the digital part are about 860,000.The circuit can be widely used in various storage systems.
